Hawkpaw nodded, "Yea, the sooner we go, the sooner we'll get our answers." He got up, shaking the damp moss from his pelt, and found his way outside the tree trunk. He looked back in, waiting for Silentpaw patiently.

Silentpaw followed him shakily, still disturbed over the dream. She shook her coat out, beads of dew flying from it into the pale pre-dawn air. "Let's run." She whispered, and took off, running away from that awful dream, those awful realizations.

Hawkpaw ran after her, catching up and running beside her he meowed, "So where should we look today?" he meowed.
((Hm....I don't know...maybe something life-threatening? Near-drown...attack by fox, badger. etc......something maybe that could give them a little spark on them liking each other....^-~))

(attack by a fox, maybe? that way they can kinda coordinate with one another, instead of one of them rescuing the other. Want me to start it?)
Silentpaw tilted her head to the side as she ran, considering. "Let's continue on the way we've been going, maybe slow it down after an hour or so, just in case."

Silentpaw ran on, trying to shake the feeling that something was following them. For ten minutes they continued their steady gait, and then she figured it out. Something was following them. And it was downwind. She whirled around and opened her jaws to scream a warning, but before she even got her senses together, a bright orange shape slammed into her, driving the apprentice backwards. She hit the ground and rolled a few feet, and lay there distantly for a few seconds, stunned.

Hawkpaw saw it happen all too quickly, "Silentpaw!" he cried running over to make sure she was alright. When he saw she was just stunned, he looked around for the fox, he was slightly confused when it didn't appear, but then he saw it's orange fur blended into the autumn leaves, it's jaw curled into a vicous growl and it lunged for Hawkpaw. He reacted quickly and jumped to the side with barely enough time, he jumped onto it while it was confused and bit down on its shoulder, this made the confused fox yowl and twist violently, trying to shake him off.

Silentpaw watched the whole thing happening distantly, as if it were something she was seeing from the sky. Suddenly, the world crashed back down. She was here, now, and she had to do something. She howled a battlecry and rushed forward, leaping at the fox and drawing three lines down its flank with her claws, then landing and spinning to face the creature again. It yelped in confusion, trying to shake off Hawkpaw but turning to attack her at the same time. It made a lunge for the she-cat, but Silentpaw neatly sidestepped the blow, managing somehow to latch her teeth onto the creature's ears and tearing a vicious wound there. She jumped out of the way, and began to circle, trying to give Hawkpaw an opening.

Hawkpaw, getting dizzy, dug his teeth into the creatures shoulder, the fox howled in pain. Then Hawkpaw jumped off as it's head spun around trying to clamp his teeth into Hawkpaw's neck. The fox ran at Hawkpaw, it's teeth coming straight at him. Hawkpaw's eyes widened and jumped out of the way in time to avoid a deadly bite, but the fox managed to clamp on his back leg. Hawkpaw yowled in pain, but managed to scratch close to the fixes eyes, managing to escape.

Silentpaw winced and howled another battle cry as she saw the fox catch hold of Hawkpaw's leg. A feeling like cool rain dribbled down her spine. She wasn't aware of anything but the fox. Her eye's met the creature's eyes, and as it lept forward, it felt like the world was going in slow motion. She sidestepped again neatly, then in one powerful leap sent herself flying at the fox, her claws outstretched, aiming right for the eyes. The moment she took off, she knew her aim was true. And indeed, the fox shrieked assent to her hit and slammed its paw into her, knocking the apprentice off to the side just as time seem to catch up. Blood rushing from the wounded eye and a deep gash in its shoulder, the fox decided that this meal was too tough and turned, keening in pain, and rushed back into the woods.

Hawkpaw breathed out, his fur lying flat on his neck. "Great job," he meowed, then winced as all the pain came down on him. His leg was horrible, blood was coming out of the wound and it hurt to walk. He licked his wound and looked at Silentpaw, hoping she wasn't badly hurt.

Silentpaw gasped in alarm. "Hawpaw!" She started forward. "Oh no... Oh no no no..." Her tail flicked swiftly back and forth as she thought. "Umm... wash out the cut. I remember seeing the medicine cat clean up a wound once...." She hissed, frustrated with herself. "red-gold flower, lots of tiny little petals, she crushed up the petals and stuck them on the wound. I'll go find some; wait here, and clean the wound up!" Without waiting for a reply, and ignoring the shallow cut on her shoulder, she ran as fast as she could towards the dense trees that were only a few hundred feet away.
In only a few minutes of searching, Silentpaw managed to find an eye-catching flower that looked right. "oh please be right... Star clan, let this be right," She muttered as she pulled a bunch of the flowers out of the ground and began to sprint back to Hawkpaw.

Hawkpaw nodded as Silentpaw left, licking his cut to get the dirt out, it stung but he knew it wasn't as bad as it could have been. He silently yelled at himself for worrying Silentpaw and making the trip harder.

The she-cat eyes were wide with worry as she came back, clutching the gold flowers. She began to crush them in her jaws then put them onto the cut. "It should sting a little at first..." she said, then trailed of. "You're... you were really brave, Hawkpaw." She said, scuffling at the dirt with her paws.

Hawkpaw winced while the wound stung, but then looked at Silentpaw, "You were too, you even got the right herb for my wound. You went right after that fox after it bit me," he meowed, "You were great."
