Tigerheart padded silently through the undergrowth, ducking his head beneath the fronds. He opened his mouth, drinking in the comforting forest scents that were all around him. He quickly distinguished the scent of squirrel.
Quietly, he took a few more pawsteps forward until he saw the squirrel scuffling beneath the roots of a maple tree. He watched it stop and sniff the air and with a sinking feeling he realized the wind was blowing towards the squirrel, carrying his scent along with it. With a hiss of frustration, he watched the squirrel dart up the tree in a heartbeat. He lashed his tail angrily.
Muttering silent curses under his breath, he turned away and padded through some thick ferns. He shouldered his way through them and came to a small clearing. His heart lifted as he saw two thrushes pecking the earth a few tail-lengths in front of him for worms. Quickly he positioned himself in the stalking position and creeped forward, careful to keep his head and tail down. His mouth watering in anticipation, Tigerheart leaped.
The thrushes were slow. Tigerheart caught one as it lifted its head with a worm clamped in its beak. He finished it off quickly and turned his head to see the other one flying up into the trees, squawking alarm calls.
Burying his prey so he could retreive it later, Tigerheart turned and padded a few pawsteps before suddenly crouching low to the forest floor. He head the brushing of fur against undergrowth and the pawsteps of a cat.

Wildstar padded after the cat, knowing it was a thunderclan by the scent without any conscious thought. The she-cat jumped into the clearing, then daintily took the few last steps toward Tigerheart. "Nice catch." She praised. And she meant it. "Mind if I go hunting with you?" She flashed a grin. "One of the drawbacks of being leader: I always seem to have trouble getting out of the camp."

Tigerheart relaxed when he saw it was his leader. He purred and sat up, licking his chest fur, trying to hide his embarrassment knowing that Wildstar had watched him hunting.
"Of course you can join me." He mewed, looking up. His emerald eyes were thoughtful as he got up and lead the way through some ferns. Hunting with the Clan leader, he thought. What an honor!

Wildstar followed him, her paws silent even on the dead leaves that littered the ground. She tipped her head to the side, her nose catching the scent of a bluebird. Her eyes flashed; bluebird was her favorite. Carefully, she sidestepped off the trail, then caught site of the brilliant blue feathers. The bird seemed alert, and hopped anxiously for a few seconds on a tree branch before alighting on the ground to search for worms. With an triumphant hiss, Wildstar pounced, catching and swiftly killing the bluebird. She carried it back closer to the path and buried it shallowly in the earth. "Blue bird is my favorite." THe leader said, ducking her head. "The kits seem to like playing with the feathers, too," she laughed.

Tigerheart blinked sympathicly. "The feathers would also be good to line the warriors' nests," he remarked. He padded a few more steps into the fronds of ferns when suddenly a rank scent wafted al around him.
"Wildstar!" He hissed quickly, beckoning his leader to crouch down with his tail. "Can you scent that?" Without warning a large, snapping muzzle pushed its way through the ferns. Tigerheart jumped in fear and stood rigid, staring at the slavering jaws in terror. Suddenly reality took hold and he aimed a blow to the dogs nose. The massive creature bared its teeth and made an odd snuffling sound, like between a snarl and a growl.
Tigerheart backed away, hissing and spitting, and jumped back to Wildstar. He heard the dog's thumping paws and found his leader waiting for him. "Wildstar!"

Wildstar's fur stood on end. All her instincts were screaming at her to run back to camp, but she fought to remain calm. "Run." She hissed. "Stay together, but don't go to camp. We can't lead it back to camp. Keep attacking it as we go, try to confuse it. You go first, i'll follow and try to scratch up its legs. It'll probably turn, then i'll distract it while you attack the back again." Her eyes widened as she could hear the thing searching for them. "Go!"

Tigerheart listened to his leader. Leaping forward, he raked his claws across the dog's muzzle, sending scarlet drops of blood on the ground. The canine reared back and than unexpectedly turned around.
Tigerheart saw that it had its eyes fixed on Wildstar. With a snarl of defiance, he leaped onto the dogs back. Terror coursed through his body and his fur bristled but he dug his claws deeper into the dog's white and brown fur.
Tigerheart heard the dog yelp in sudden pain and anger flashed in Tigerheart's mind. Let this teach you a lesson! He thought feircely, biting down hard on the back of the dog's neck.
The dog tried vainly to shake Tigerheart off. It pushed itself rough against a tree. Pain seized Tigerheart's arm as he felt it being crushed by the mighty animal's strength. StarClan, help me!
Suddenly he felt the dog jerk sideways. Tigerheart gripped his claws deeper and turned to see his leader attacking viciously at the dog's hind legs.

Wildstar lunged forward, mercilessly raking the dog's hindquarters. The canine spun, ignoring the cat on its back to focus on the one attacking. It lunged forward, snapping at her quickly. Wildstar dodged the jaws, but forgot about the paws. One huge smack sent her tumbling with a few shallow cuts along her back. She rolled to a halt and lunged up, ignoring the sting of dirt in the cuts. It could be dealt with later. Without hesitating, she lept straight for the dog's throat, making an effort to tear at the creature's jugular. She almost succeeded, but the dog's skin was very thick there, and she did not bite deep enough to reach the vein. She hit the ground and lept out of the way.

[ you told me Wildstar was going to attack the dog's legs, so I included that in my post. ]
Tigerheart decided it was time to jump from the dogs back. Fighting the urge to sink his claws even deeper, he let go and leaped away in a fern bush. He glanced at his shoulder and winced as he saw an ugly wound bleeding like a river.
Beleiving the warrior code dictated a warrior fight to its last breath, he jumped back into the fight. Tigerheart saw that his leader had leapt away [ you said so on your last line ] so he joined her. Standing by her side, he gasped, "Wildstar, I'm sure it learned cats aren't easy prey. Let's return to camp and send out a patrol later." He winced as he put his wieght on his shoulder.

(It was her plan, but she hadn't done it yet, and I'm not trying to be a grouch, just take note. If the cat had already done it, you can go back in time a few seconds, play what your cat had been doing, mention that the other cat had done that, its okay, but if the other cat had only thought about doing it, then you can't say they've done it yet.)
Wildstar nodded and howled, running at the dog. The creature cowered and turned, blood flowing easily from its many wounds. She turned back to Tigerheart, looking in concern at his shoulder. "Starclan bless it!" She muttered angrily. "Can you walk on it?"

Tigerheart shook his head. "No, I think the medicine cat needs to look at it," He meowed, giving it a hard stare.
He hobbled over to where the dog had blundered through the undergrowth in its haste to escape. He sniffed a fern that was still trembling from the dog's paws and murmured, half to himself, "It's injured pretty bad. It is probably scared and more dangerous now."
Turning to his leader, Tigerheart suggested, "You should warn the patrols to keep a look out and send one out to track it to see if it left our territory."

(thanks ) "I will." Wildstar said. She sighed. "I don't want to leave you here alone, but someone has to go get Leafsong." Her tail tapped the ground in annoyance.

Tigerheart drinked in the forest scents. "The dog is a long way off now. I'm sure it won't come back if it has a decent brain." He pointed out.
He tried to hobble over back to his leader, but he fell over on his side. A terrible pain coursed through the tom's body and he gritted his teeth to stop from yowling in pain. "Leafsong!" He rasped. "Don't worry about me. Please, please get Leafsong!" He clenched his teeth and his nostrils flared.
Dragging his body with one good forearm into the thick undergrowth, Tigerheart laid there panting. Blood trickled onto the forest floor from his wound and the over powering scent of it engulfed him.

Iceclaw lifted her head and smelled the thick scent of blood. Her first instinct was to barge forward to see what was happening, but she restrained herself. The ice colored she cat moved cautiously. It was when she saw Wildstar and her badly wounded friend Tigerheart that she burst out into the open. Iceclaw glanced around, she could just scent dog over the overpowering stench of blood. She heard Wildstar finish her sentence. "I'll stay with him Wildstar. If the dog comes back I'll be able to hold it off until someone else gets here." She said.

Tigerheart could just catch the scent of Iceclaw before darkness closed in around him. A terrible dizziness crashed upon him and soon the scents and sounds of the forest were no more.
